First Month as a Freelance Writer.

When I heard the call of freelance writing beckoning me, I immediately dedicated myself to learning everything about the business that I possibly could. I spent a ridiculous amount of time sifting through books and e-books claiming to divulge insider secrets to making money as a freelancer. Months passed and I realized I was no closer to achieving my goals than I was when I first started.

While I was intrigued by the glamour of seeing my name in glossy print magazines, I wasn’t exactly fanatic over the amount of time that reality could possibly take. I needed a financial boost as quickly as possible! It was around this time that my interest in online writing began to surface. After a little research I found that some internet-based magazines pay rates that are competitive with print magazines. I didn’t need any further convincing.

Armed with a little knowledge and a lot of motivation, I proceeded to market my services and polish my writing. During my first official month of freelance writing, my desk was literally FULL of client projects. If being up to your eyeballs in freelance writing work sounds good to you, here are my top four tips for being a successful internet freelance writer:

Create a web presence. I’m not talking about Geocities or MySpace. Your website is going to be your virtual handshake; make it a strong, confident one. Spend a little time learning HTML (many free courses online) and basic website design.

If you have little freelance writing experience, consider doing a few charity assignments. There are also content sites that pay writers for their contributions, such as Associatedcontent.com and Constantcontent.com. The fact that these sources are internet based doesn’t make them any less impressionable, so make sure your writing is in line with what I affectionately call the three P’s (polished, professional, precise).

Market, market, market! It’s a necessary evil. Yes, I’ve felt a bit like a traveling salesman at times. However, which is more likely to happen during your first month freelance writing: clients finding your brand new website while surfing Google, or clients responding to an ad you’ve placed on a service board? So take a break from writing chapter four of your novel, head over to Craigslist.org or Online-writing-jobs.com, and market your services with a killer advertisement.

Keep updated records. Create spread sheets detailing your expenses, income, assignments, deadlines, and everything else you want to keep track of. You’ll find these records indispensable around tax-time and when setting your monthly income goals (you do have monthly income goals, right?)

Learn to take a breather. With so many changes taking place, your first month as a freelance writer will undoubtedly be stressful. Learn when to scale back on your client assignments. Take half a day off and start working on that novel again. The idea is to allow yourself to remember how wonderful it feels to write from that genuine place.

During the Puyallup Fair this September 22nd to the 24th, there would be one attraction that car lovers would surely go to. This is the Back the Track weekend event and it has got the Great Western Sports, or the GWS, as one of its sponsors. If you did not know, GWS is a subsidiary of the great International Speedway Corporation. GWS would be working with the Western Washington Fair Association for this event. During the Back the Track weekend, goers and guests would be able to feast their eyes on show cars that have been rounding other auto shows. These cars would be those that come from the national racing series. Included is the #9 Dodge Dealers and UAW Dodge Charger driven by Kasey Kahne and this vehicle has gained its popularity because it has been in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.

When looking for free Webmaster Tools, my advice to you is to be sure that you are using tools from a reputable site or, more importantly, if you are downloading software be very careful that the download does not contain adware and spyware or viruses for that matter! On that note let's start off with the free software that you can use to protect your computer, because if that is not running well you will not be able to run you online business successfully. Windows Defender from Microsoft is great at scanning your computer for unwanted software. The free version of AVG Anti-Virus as well as Ad-Aware SE and Spybot are great at keeping your computer free of viruses and other undesirables! The free version of ZoneAlarm has many great attributes. Just a word of warning if you are running AVG anti-virus, ZoneAlarm will not detect that you have anti-virus protection, so do not be alarmed, it is just that ZoneAlarm has not been programmed to look for AVG. The one program I did purchase was ProcessGuard, which amongst other things protects my computer from keyboard loggers, protects the physical memory, blocks global hooks, blocks rootkit/driver/service installation and registry DLL injection. These programs all run harmoniously on my computer and so far I have managed to keep out all the dangerous and unwanted intruders.

Now on to the more exciting free Webmaster Tools, that will greatly assist you in the running of your online business. Google Alerts can really add excitement to your day. If you set up a Google alert for the name of your affiliate program/s, Google will advise you by email when a new page appears on Google with these search terms and you can view the page and see if it is an opportunity to recruit an affiliate. Sometimes the new page can be a forum post asking for opinions on the affiliate program. This gives you the opportunity to add your opinion with your affiliate link of course in the signature file.

You can also set up a Google alert for your own name. This throws up some really exciting results as you can see when someone has clicked on your profile in an Article Directory or clicked on your articles as well as where people have clicked to find out what other articles you have written. This is definitely worth trying as I am sure you will be both surprised and amazed at what comes up! Google Webmaster Tools, previously known as Google Sitemaps is so useful in that you are able to let Google know when you have updated your site. The sitemap enables Google to crawl your site better and ensures that the most current pages of your site are indexed quickly. You can just create a sitemap upload it to the same directory as your .index files and in the Google Webmaster Tools under Add a Sitemap you just type in or paste the url of your new sitemap. Google also give you reports on their latest crawl of your site and notifies you of errors, as well as give you details and positioning of your keywords. For a normal jpg image, a file size of 100k will be good enough. However, you have to remind both yourself and the users of your website that these photos are meant to be used on the internet and their resolutions are not high enough for printing since the resolution needed for displaying on a monitor is only 72 dpi.

It was a good few years back that I last went to see a show like this, but I still remember some of the hilarious things some people were made to do, by the Hypnotist. Why people volunteer to go up on stage and make fools of themselves, beats me, but it is the things that those people do, that really fascinate me. I mean it is a family show and some areas are taboo, but even so, those people all do what is asked of them and seem to have no recollection of what they did. I remember they were made to "take a bath". They went through the motions of stripping off, getting into the bath, washing themselves, getting out again, drying themselves and then dressed themselves. I also remember a group of elderly women were told that they were young teenagers at a Beatles concert. Those old dolls screamed, shouted, jumped around and went totally berserk over the Fab Four. In real life they probably would not have been able to move around like young girls. Another show had a group of people believing they were Michael Jackson.

Well, that was funny. Everyone was singing into imaginary mikes and doing the moon walk. Yet another group was led to believe they were top racing drivers. I can still picture them sitting on chairs and thinking they were driving. The vocal sounds of high revving engines, the changing of imaginary gears were very real to them. As a young boy, I went to watch the local Indian religious festival, in which some of them walk across hot beds of glowing coals, pierce large needles through their lips, cheeks, noses and other body parts. They seem to feel no pain and more surpising, is the fact that these wounds do not bleed. I saw 2 of these participants, in town, a couple of days later and they seemed none the worse for wear. I know a lady who was a chain smoker. She sought help from a Hypnotist and not only gave up smoking immediately, but developed an aversion for other smokers. However unless the principles of this subtle science are understood and adhered to, spiritual healers can be negatively impacted by practicing Spiritual Healing. When Jane enters the room she searches high and low for the cause but cannot find the reason for the water on the floor. She then goes on to wipe the floor. John lets out an evil chuckle under his breath at Jane's plight and ignorance about the root cause.

This is a typical analogy of how a spiritual reason such as an attack by a ghost (John) can cause a problem in life such as a heart condition (i.e. the water on the floor). Due to the fact that we do not have the sixth sense vision to see or perceive the ghost, our search for the cause of, for example, the chest pain remains limited only to the physical or psychological dimension.

3. What does Spiritual Healing heal? We can now appreciate that in cases of heart disease resulting from a spiritual root cause, medical or surgical treatment can only alleviate the consequent damage done by the spiritual root cause. Thus by treating the heart condition by surgery or medicine, medical sciences can at best bring about a symptomatic cure. The condition however reoccurs as the root cause, for example, the ghost, is not taken care of.

Spiritual Healing is about diagnosis and removal of the spiritual root cause of the problem, that is, the ghost in the above example of heart disease. It could also be used for stopping a potential problem happening in the first place.

Though advanced Spiritual Healing remedies can also revert the physical damage done, in most cases it is advisable to use physical measures (treatment) to alleviate the physical damage (i.e. the water in our example above). This is because one would have to use a lot of spiritual energy to achieve what can be done with comparatively lower input at a physical level. This is considering that spiritual energy is invaluable and extremely difficult to acquire compared to any physical effort.
